This masjid and the buildings around it were once heavily damaged and left unusable after years of conflict that devastated the surrounding area. Repeated airstrikes and prolonged fighting caused severe structural damage, broken floors, shattered walls, and interiors that were no longer safe to enter.
Like many civilian spaces, the masjid was not spared. As families were forced to flee, it was abandoned and left exposed to further deterioration over time.
The destruction was not the result of neglect, but of sustained violence that turned places of worship, learning, and community into silent ruins. With the community displaced, the masjid stood empty for years, its condition worsening with each passing season.
